3 HOUR WORKSHOP ON MUSIC PRODUCTION USING AN IPAD OR AN IPHONE

  • Class Duration - 1 - 4pm (3 hours)

  • Fee: $75 per person

TOPICS COVERED IN THIS WORKSHOP:

This workshop is primarily geared towards beginners who are new to music production. We will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Music Production (Getting to know various terms used in the music industry, Getting to know your iPad, Making music using the iPad, playing an instrument on the iPad, Digital Audio Workstation (DAWs), what is recording? what is programming? and other terminologies)

  • How to start a song/beat/tune: (musical idea/ programming the beat using various instruments, adding effects, etc )

  • Using Different Genres (we can make music in your choice of genre: Hip-Hop, Classical, Electronic, Pop etc.)

  • Using loops to compose and produce your own song: (Using loops is fun. Jamming with various loops and effects and recording them will lead to endless creative possibilities)

  • Getting Creative (Generating Various ideas to create your song more interesting)

  • How to mix the song after it is recorded: (Mixing a song is like balancing each individual instrument that has been recorded onto the song. It all should be balanced to sound pleasing)

  • How to Export the finished song: (After the song is mixed you can export it out of the software on the iPad and listen to it!)

  • Sharing the song with friends and family: (Show your amazing music production skills to all your friends and family)

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE:

  • Hour 1: We will be going over the above topics (through a slideshow and iPad/Chalkboard discussion)

  • Hour 2: Start making your own beat on your iPad. (We will also be working in teams and groups, that way we learn from our friends too!)

  • Hour 3: How to mix and finally finish the song you created and export so you can share it with your friends and family. We will also have time for questions. Topics to be covered in the future workshops will be briefly discussed.

PREREQUISITES: 

Although its not necessary for the workshop participants to be familiar with all the technical know-how, previous knowledge certainly helps while we go over technical topics.

MEET THE TEACHER:

ATMAN SHETH (Master of Music, Berklee College of Music), is an accomplished music producer and an audio engineer in the Boston area. Atman has been producing music for over 6 years and has a master’s degree in music production from Berklee College of Music.

He has been a freelance music producer for many years and has worked on a variety of projects including independent singles, Music for Films, Music for Video Games and Commercials, and Mixing and Mastering records as well. He currently focuses on producing electronic music fused with various world music genres and is working on his upcoming single.

He wants to share his knowledge and passion of how the music production is changing the music industry today and wants to show how much a small iPad can do! Although he used professional music production software on bigger computers, he thinks we shouldn’t underestimate the little iPads and iPhones.

Payment and Missed Class Policy:

Training requires consistency in order to achieve the most benefit. However, we understand that students may occasionally need to miss a class. Use the following guidelines to ensure that you get the most out of your classes at The Academy of Creative Arts. 

  1. Your fees are due on or before the first class in a month

  2. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card

  3. If you pay for several months in advance and cannot complete all months, we will refund months not used when notice is received before the beginning of the month

  4. If you or your child plan to miss a class - 48 hour advance notice is required - so another student can be accommodated - if the student does not provide 48 hour notice, student can coordinate the make-up class with the instructor.

  5. Your monthly fee pays for your space in class for the month. It is your responsibility to make up classes if you or your child miss the class.

  6. One makeup class will be offered each month. During any month that you are enrolled, you may make up a class by attending any other appropriate session (please coordinate with the instructor for scheduling the make up class). Make up classes should be completed within 60 days of missing the class. Fees for missed classes are not refundable.

  7. If you are having trouble scheduling a make up class, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you

  8. Class timings and schedule are subject to change

  9. If your child is disruptive and impacts the ability to learn for other students - we may request parents to un-enroll the child from the class for a safe and fun learning experience & environment for all the other students in the class.
