RULES FOR THE CLASS
Minimum 8 classes are required to graduate including class 8,9 and 10. We try to give make up classes at other venues or over Skype.
Arriving on time is also considered as tardy. Three late arrivals or early departures will be considered as one absence.
Skipping classes without informing the teacher is not excused and a make-up class may not be offered.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the class, but they cannot talk to each other or to their children. They are not allowed to give any feedback during the class. For that, use your time outside the class.
Every week homework is given. It needs to be submitted within 72 hours of the class. If you need a feedback on the homework, please submit it on time in the Google Drive location shared with you. If you still didn’t get the feedback, just communicate with using the communications protocol.
Children who don’t do their homework almost always don’t do well in their speeches in the class leading to lower self-esteem and loss of interest.
Parents must supervise their child’s speeches at least once and provide feedback. Most children who do not do well are the children who never once practice their speeches.
Topics for the speech are to be jointly selected by parent and the student. I can help but it is best if the student selects a topic close their heart.
If you face challenges to submit the homework on time, please let me know using the Communications Protocol as mentioned below. I would not like you to come to the class with any excuses of parties/trips/homework/camps/”work” etc.
Please inform me of your planned absences ahead of time.
Unplanned and emergency absences need to be posted in our WhatsApp group. Also call me as soon as you become aware of the situation. I typically don’t look at WhatsApp on the way to the class.
For any help DON’T EMAIL ME.
First, try WhatsApp, then SMS and finally if this doesn’t work, call me.
Getting the most out of the class
Some of my students have won national speech and debate competitions, captainships, judging competitions and such. Some have gone on to get beauty pageants also. It is crucial for you to encourage your child to do the homework on time, listen to others’ speeches and provide meaningful feedback to get the most out of the class. Good behavior, positive attitude and high energy will ensure unprecedented success. Encourage them to work doing their homework on time and practicing 3-4 times before coming to the class.
Payment and Missed Class Policy:
Training requires consistency in order to achieve the most benefit. However, we understand that students may occasionally need to miss a class. Use the following guidelines to ensure that you get the most out of your classes at The Academy of Creative Arts.
Your fees are due on or before the first class in a month
Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card
If you pay for several months in advance and cannot complete all months, we will refund months not used when notice is received before the beginning of the month
If you or your child plan to miss a class - 48 hour advance notice is required - so another student can be accommodated - if the student does not provide 48 hour notice, student can coordinate the make-up class with the instructor.
Your monthly fee pays for your space in class for the month. It is your responsibility to make up classes if you or your child miss the class.
One makeup class will be offered each month. During any month that you are enrolled, you may make up a class by attending any other appropriate session (please coordinate with the instructor for scheduling the make up class). Make up classes should be completed within 60 days of missing the class. Fees for missed classes are not refundable.
If you are having trouble scheduling a make up class, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you
Class timings and schedule are subject to change
We wish you a wonderful learning experience - these policies are required so that we can be respectful of the instructors time and commitment.
