What is public speaking?

This 10 week session for (8-15 years) students builds confidence through speeches, games, and debate. This camp helps students of all levels, whether they are shy or outgoing, and offers a gentle introduction to public speaking through play and debate. All students will also perform in an Open Mic at the end of the session (Friday). This workshop is for the student that wants to speak their mind in front of anyone or many and wants to understand how they can do that with purpose.

Focus areas will be:

  • What is your passion

  • Why do you want to share

  • How can you share with confidence

  • How do you make a speech that sticks

Students will engage in group activities, freestyle speech, peer review, while watching famous monologues and speeches, mindfully attending to their nerves, and cultivating confidence in their ability to stand up and speak.

What is storytelling?

This 10-week workshop for (8-15 years) students will help students find their creative voice and build confidence in their own ideas through storytelling, improv, and spoken word. This camp  helps students of all ages express themselves and find their unique way of presenting it. All students will participate in an Open Mic at the end of the session to present the pieces they are most proud of. This workshop is for the creative at heart, who want a safe space and friendly guidance in expressing what they would like to share.

Focus areas will be:

  • What is a story

  • How to find the story you want to tell

  • How to craft a story

  • How to tell a story

Students will engage in group activities, improv scenarios, peer evaluation, while being guided through idea generation, creative development, and thematic brainstorming.
