Welcome to the Shankar Mahadevan Academy, I'm truly excited about this collaborative venture with Academy of Creative Arts.
Me and my friends Hetal & Java Joshi have worked diligently to design custom music programs for you and your kids. Our vision is to make learning of all styles of Indian music easy, accessible, exciting and fun.
Our philosophy is simple. To impart high quality learning in music through innovative methods while having a great deal of fun.

DESCRIPTION:
Ideal for students looking to take their first steps into the world of Hindustani Vocal Music.
The course aims at providing a strong foundation where learning is a process of constant discovery. The student acquires the ability to use basic elements of music (melody and rhythm) to improvise musical phrases.
The course will lay the foundation for acquiring clarity of voice and teach how to focus on the stability of the note and match pitch perfectly with the Tanpura.
LEVELS:
Sa - First steps into Classical Music, focus on swara, laya and simple combinations. Equivalent: Sangeet Parichay of ABGMV (Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya- Hindustani)
Re - Creative combinations of swaras and laya, simple compositions. Equivalent: Prarambhik of ABGMV
Ga - Important ragas, rare ragas, singing at various paces (kaal). Equivalent: Praveshika Poorna of ABGMV
Ma - In-depth raga studies, break-through concepts in improvisation, more composition forms. Equivalent: Madhyama Pratham of ABGMV
Pa - Use of complex talas, exploring concert standards, relationship between tune and lyrics. Equivalent: Visharad Pratham of ABGMV
Dha - Raga development, comparative studies, sur sadhana, Pallavis, concert singing. Equivalent: Visharad Dwitiya, or BA of ABGMV
Ni - Electives in advanced topics in Indian Classical Music. Equivalent: Masters Program in Delhi University, Madras University etc.

DESCRIPTION:
Carnatic Vocal music is the classical music of Southern India.
Program contains a highly structured curriculum, a clear path for progression, and certifications for completion.
Level Certificates are given to students at each of seven levels: Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha and Ni. Each level requires the student to complete the courses listed under it and pass the level exam.
LEVELS:
Sa - First steps into Classical Music, focus on swara, laya and simple combinations. Equivalent: Karnataka State Junior Exam
Re - Creative combinations of swaras and laya, simple compositions. Singing Equivalent: Second Semester Madras University BA
Ga - Important ragas, rare ragas, singing at various paces (kaal). Equivalent: Third Semester Madras University BA

DESCRIPTION:
Conceived and developed to build foundation and appreciation in music for children who are not keen to do classical music
It is an age relevant and progressive curriculum - where basic musical elements will be explored and understood through songs - which are borrowed from various genres and languages.
- It can work for as a starting point for very little children who cant do classical say age group 2.5 to 6 to build interest and basics in music which will help them when they step into classical music - also the children will learn good fun songs, age appropriate
- It can also be for children who love singing but are not inclined towards classical music - it offers such kids an avenue to understand and sing music and also try singing in different genres and languages
The program works in progression we have 4 levels based on ages
- Level 1 - 2.5 to 4
- Level 2 - 4+ to 6
- Level 3 - 6 + to 8
- and Level 4 - 8+
Each level has 3 sets of module - each module has 12 sessions
Major musical concepts like beat pitch notes etc will be demystified along with learning to sing some songs :-)

DESCRIPTION:
Learn for talent competition, special event or just for fun!
Whether you are new to singing or an experienced vocalist, we make it fun and easy for anyone to learn their favorite song. The course will teach you step-by-step, covering the lyrics, song situation, music composition and finer nuances such as the inflections and ornamentations
We will be starting with a program to learn basics of singing and learn 2 popular Hindi Songs. This will be 12 weeks course (one class per week) and a teacher will be conducting these sessions and the sessions will be augmented with access to course materials online.
Curriculum:
- Prayer (Gajaananam, Shloka)
- Building Blocks of all Music
- Creating Swara Patterns
- Hindi Movie Song 1 (Mukhda, Antara, Swara Mapping, Practice)
- Hindi Movie Song 2 (Mukhda, Antara, Swara Mapping, Practice)
- Performance
After completion of this course, student will be able to:
- Learn basics of music (Swaras, Alankaras)
- Learn & Perform 2 Hindi Movie Songs
