ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR - DR. ASHWINI PUROHIT

DR. ASHWINI PUROHIT

Ms ASHWINI PUROHIT is a Young Vocalist of Hindustani Classical Music of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. She is blessed with a sweet, rich & vibrant voice with immense dedication. Ashwini initiated with Hindustani vocal music at the age of seven from MrsAlka Kulkarni & completed her Sangeet Visharad under her guidance. Later, she completed Sangeet Alankar under the guidance of Smt Leela Ghole. She ranked 2nd all over India in Sangeet Alankar of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay in Hindustani Vocal Music.

In 2007, Ms. Ashwini Purohit was blessed to be a disciple of Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, the lineage coming from Gaansaraswati Vidushi Kishori Amonkar.

Ms. Ashwini has excelled in flying colors of Music. In 2009, She has accomplished successfully with her BA in Hindustani Vocal Music from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University & ranked 1st in it. After completing her Masters in Music, in 2022, she had done her PhD in Music from S.N.D.T University. She has also published many research papers in India.

Ashwini has bagged the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in the year 2013 & also has gained Fellowship for doing research work in Hindustani Music by the Centre of Cultural Resources & Training (C.C.R.T) in the year 2017.

In the year 2015-2016, she had an opportunity to promote Indian Music & Cultural in the USA. She was in-charge of Hindustani Music department at Mudra Arts Centre, Sterling, VA. During this period, she performed classical, semi classical, light, devotional music & fusions. She also conducted many workshops, Lecture-Demonstrations at various places like George Mason University, DC, AAROHAN- Winter Camp by Bhaktii Raga etc. She had participated ‘National Ethnomusicology Conference’ of America held in 2016.

Ashwini has performed extensively all over India & in the USA. She was honored to perform on the very prestigious stage of Kennedy Centre, USA to represent Indian Classical Music.

In the year 2018, she initiated to build up a strong foundation to create an educational & cultural hub. ’Purohit Academy of Music, Maths&Engineering’ which is located in Pune, Maharashtra is the result of her hard work & clear vision to explore music for all levels, all age group students.

All these qualities, combined with her love & passion for Music have rendered her not only as exceptional artist but also an exceptional teacher.

1. Being a scholar, she was appointed as a Visiting Faculty at SNDT University.

2. Ashwini was invited many times as an Examiner of Hindustani Music exams by Gandharv Mahavidyalay Pune as well as of Mumbai.

3. She also had initiated the affiliation for Virginia students to get International Certifications from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, India.

Ashwini is extremely talented, hard working & knowledgeable Teacher & a promising performing artist, promoting Hindustani Music by heart all overthe world. Currently, she is in Boston, MA to teach/ Perform Hindustani & semi classical Music.

Payment and Missed Class Policy:

Training requires consistency in order to achieve the most benefit. However, we understand that students may occasionally need to miss a class. Use the following guidelines to ensure that you get the most out of your classes at The Academy of Creative Arts. 

1. Your fees are due on or before the first class in a month

2. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card

3. If you pay for several months in advance and cannot complete all months, we will refund months not used when notice is received before the beginning of the month

4. If you or your child plan to miss a class - 48 hour advance notice is required - so another student can be accommodated - if the student does not provide 48 hour notice, student can coordinate the make-up class with the instructor.

5. Your monthly fee pays for your space in class for the month. It is your responsibility to make up classes if you or your child miss the class.

6. One makeup class will be offered each month. During any month that you are enrolled, you may make up a class by attending any other appropriate session (please coordinate with the instructor for scheduling the make up class). Make up classes should be completed within 60 days of missing the class. Fees for missed classes are not refundable.

7. If you are having trouble scheduling a make up class, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you
